I am so grateful for technology. I am now teaching at 4 schools per semester, 5 schools for the year. We use a 6 day rotation so my schedule is Day 1 and 2 AAA school, Day 3 BBB school, Day 4 and 5 CCC school, Day 6 DDD school first semester and FFF school second semester. The two schools I am at 2 days each have different daily schedules so I use my phone to alert me to beginning/end of classes at AAA and I use my internet calendar to do the same for the schedule at CCC. This would normally be a huge nightmare for me. Constant stress and worry about missing meetings, deadlines, classes. Not being able to track lesson plans. Not to mention having to carry all the paperwork and other accouterments from school to school breaking my back.
I get email from all these schools. I have calendars shared with me from most of theses school and have 2 or 3 of my own. If I didn’t have cloud space and online calendars, task reminders, cellphone alarms etc. I would be missing classes, kids, meetings, deadlines and all.
I put most of my documents, schedules, lists on my cloud drive so that I don’t have to worry about forgetting and losing things. I do print them and carry them on a clipboard so I follow the schedule and pick up the correct kids.
AND when I need to unwind…I play music from the internet.
These are all tools that help me manage my ADD. Help me organize and do what I need to do. I can come back to focus when I lose it. I am proud to say that I have not had to take any medicine this year. I’ve gotten scheduling done, created lesson plans, filled out paperwork and even mentored a new teacher.
With the right tools and knowledge I can overcome my issues and be productive. And if I can, others can.
