silence is roaring;
pencils frequently scratching;
test pages turning.

feet fidget…worried
furtive glances at the clock;

Snapdragons
In pondering the ‘could have been’s’
I find the beauty in having ‘could have been’ moments.
Conjuring up alternate endings to pivotal moments is
a pleasure that I wouldn’t have
if those moments had pivoted the other way.
The relationship would have played out in the other direction
and would be packaged up with an ending
and added on as baggage,
